Apalachicola, FL- Exchange & Banking Co. of Apalachicola $2 Dec. 20, 1841 G4 Benice 28 Remainder PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. Like the previously listed $1 in this auction, the $2 was a completely worthless note from a non-existent bank which did not have an office of any kind. The notes were passed by perpetrators along the east coast far from Florida in the mid-1840's. The layout features a center vignette of Hope flanked by a vignettes of a Native American warrior with his dog at left and a bull's head in an end panel comprising agricultural products at right. A small steam-powered sailing vessel appears at bottom center. The $2 is quite scarce, with Benice estimating a surviving population of between 13 and 30 notes.
