Atlanta, GA- General Railroad and European Steamship Ticket Office / R.D. Mann Agent Advertising Note ND (ca. 1874-1883) PCGS Banknote Choice AU 58. R.D. Mann, agent for the General Railroad and European Steamship Ticket Office No. 4 Kimball House, Atlanta, issued a large number of advertising notes between roughly 1874 and 1883 when the office was destroyed when the Kimball House burned. The 50¢ host note for this advertising note was originally printed for the State of Georgia in 1863 by Howell and was completely filled in and ready for circulation. With the end of the war, notes like this became worthless and were available essentially at the cost of scrap paper. Enterprising individuals like Mann, seized the opportunity and repurposed such notes into attention grabbing advertising pieces. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
