Austin, TX- Corporation of the City of Austin $2 ND (ca. 1840) Medlar 171 PMG Very Good 10 Net. Austin was incorporated in 1839, Unfortunately the portion of the lower right edge that is missing would have contained the Mayor's name, allowing an accurate assessment of when the note was issued. The other example of this note known to us in the Rowe-Barr Collection in the SMU DeGolyer Library, however, is signed by the city's first mayor who only served in 1840. The design is basic, with an officer holding a sword and flag in the left end panel and two bold 2s indicating the denomination. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
