Austin, TX- Austin, TX- Republic of Texas Certificate of Stock - Ten Per Cent Consolidated Fund $100 Sep. 1, 1840 Cr. 40E Medlar UNL Fine. This bond which bore 10% interest was authorized by the Act of February 5, 1840 and was callable on or after June 30, 1845. Interest was payable in gold or silver semi-annually via the ten warrants which remain attached to this certificate (warrants 1 and 2 had been detached and then reattached as evidenced by the patch on the back. The cut cancels' presence indicate that the cancels were made after the warrants had been reattached. The certificate, in addition to the previously mentioned cut cancels, has staining along the file folds and has a portion of the lower left margin missing as well as various minor edge nicks, short tears, and small missing pieces.
