(Madison), WI (Territory)- Territory of Wisconsin $20 Feb. 19, 1842 PMG Very Fine 25. Known as "1842 Scrip," notes like this $20 were issued to pay basic expenses of the Legislative Assembly. The note features a large eagle and shield vignette flanked by end panels containing TWENTY at left and XX / 20 / XX at right. This example was made payable to Charles H. Larkins who later served as Sergeant-At-Arms for the 1845 Session and who was involved in territorial and state politics for another three decades.
