Allegheny, PA- Allegheny Bank $10 18__ as G10a as Hoober 5-3 Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. The bank was organized in 1857 and remained in business until 1865 when it became the Allegheny National Bank of Pittsburgh (Allegheny became part of Pittsburgh in the late 1850s). This striking $10 design features a popular vignette of a group of putti turning big rocks into little rocks, flanked by vignettes of a young girl holding a dove and a bull's head. The note is covered light red tint but does not have the large red-brown TEN protector. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with the usual POCs in the signature lines.
