T39 $100 1862 PF-13 Cr. 296 PCGS Banknote Choice VF 35. The Montgomery Depositary, Thaddeus Sanford, issued this note, processed in August, 1862, to the field on November 1 of, presumably, 1862. Interest appears to have not been paid until January 1, 1865 as evidenced by two IP stamps, which are usually associated with Texas and the Trans-Mississippi Department, on the back. Curiously both have been modified with a handwritten 5 written over the stamped 4 in 1864. While this modification is seen quite frequently, it is puzzling why this note was stamped twice and modified. Either stamp impression seems to be clear enough to have been satisfactory for record keeping. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
