T39 $100 1862 PF-5 Cr. 291 PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25. Curiously, the note has a manuscript entry that it was issued January 12, 1863 and yet has a clear rubberstamp indicating that interest was paid to January 1, 1863, eleven days before this note was issued. In addition two rubberstamps are present paying interest to final two standard interest payment days of the war, January 1, 1864 and 1865. It would seem that there are two plausible explanations for the 1863 entries. 1.- The note earned interest from the date it was originally prepared, June 9, 1862, until January 1, 1863 at which time interest was paid. The note was then temporarily retired and reissued on January 12, 1863. Or 2.- The note was actually issued to the field for the first time on January 12, 1863 and the 1863 interest paid stamp was improperly or inadvertently applied.
