The overdate is an inherent feature of the issue, rather than a variety, as all of the tiny mintage of 760 display raised metal within the date numeral '6'. Lowest mintage in the entire Large Diameter type for the Capped Bust Quarter Eagle series. Rare in any condition and nigh-impossible in uncirculated grades, making this mid-AU likely the finest available at any given moment. Satin marigold surfaces with generous remaining luster and only mild, even friction across the high points of the devices. Strong striking detail and crisp outlines and conspicuous die clashing flanking the eagle's right wing on the reverse. A white whale for early gold collectors and one we are thrilled to offer!
