Dealer:  (Terms) David Lawrence Rare Coins (72)
Inaugural Small Diameter type for the Capped Bust Quarter Eagle series, featuring a 0.3mm reduction in diameter while retaining its original weight of 4.37 grams. From a mintage of 3,403 and nigh-impossible in gem uncirculated condition. Satin, honeyed pear surfaces with only mild, scattered tick marks, less than expected for its low-uncirculated grade. Strike weakness is noted on the reverse and central obverse, but details are otherwise bold and outlines are crisp. A boon for gold type setters looking for uncirculated examples of early issues!
