Karl XII copper "Nicobar" Plate Money 2 Daler Silvermynt 1711 XF (Shipwreck Effect), Avesta mint. 124x130mm. Three partial date corner stamps, two full (weak) date. Salvaged from the "Nicobar" (sunk in 1783 off Cape Whale, South Africa). Ex. Ponterio Auction 109 (October 2000, Lot #1313) The Nicobar shipwreck, a Danish East India Company vessel, sank in 1783 off the coast of South Africa during a voyage from India to Denmark. Discovered centuries later, the wreck revealed a treasure trove of artifacts, including silver coins, personal belongings, and remnants of its cargo: the whimsical Swedish Plate Money.
