Ulrika Eleonora copper "Nicobar" Plate Money 2 Daler Silvermynt 1719 XF (Shipwreck Effect), Avesta mint, KM-PM60. 185x188mm. Type II. Two full & two partial corner stamps, 2 Full & 2 partial dates. Salvaged from the "Nicobar" (sunk in 1783 off Cape Whale, South Africa). Ex. Ponterio Auction 116 (October 2001, Lot #519) The Nicobar shipwreck, a Danish East India Company vessel, sank in 1783 off the coast of South Africa during a voyage from India to Denmark. Discovered centuries later, the wreck revealed a treasure trove of artifacts, including silver coins, personal belongings, and remnants of its cargo: the whimsical Swedish Plate Money.
