Frederick I copper "Nicobar" Plate Money 2 Daler Silvermynt 1750 XF (Shipwreck Effect), Avesta mint, KM-PM71. 190x1028mm. Salvaged from the "Nicobar" (sunk in 1783 off Cape Whale, South Africa). Ex. Craig A. Whitford Numismatic Auctions (November 1999, Lot 1276) The Nicobar shipwreck, a Danish East India Company vessel, sank in 1783 off the coast of South Africa during a voyage from India to Denmark. Discovered centuries later, the wreck revealed a treasure trove of artifacts, including silver coins, personal belongings, and remnants of its cargo: the whimsical Swedish Plate Money.
