Mengel & Bros. $60.78 Sight Draft July 11, 1881 Very Fine-Extremely Fine The company manufactured boxes; The draft has two nice vignettes, one of an allegorical woman representing Peace standing by a cannon and another, titled The War Alarm. Pen canceled with minor evidence of previous mounting on the back; Detroit, MI- Detroit Central Mills Co. $1600 Company Draft Sep. 5, 1873 Very Fine The company was involved in flouring and grain milling in the 1870s. Great factory vignette; pinholes and manuscript canceled; Detroit, MI- Second National Bank of Detroit $100 Customer Check Dec. 10, 1864 Fine-Very Fine Cut canceled; adhesive revenue stamp; Hancock, MI- Quincy Mine $10 Sight Draft May 27, 1870 Fine-Very Fine Cut canceled, four small spindle/body holes; Negaunee, MI- Iron Cliffs Co. $72.50; $1831.50 Company Drafts 1869-70 Fine-Very Fine Vignettes of state coat of arms and mining scene. The 1869 draft has an imprinted revenue stamp while the 1870 draft has 95¢ in adhesive revenue stamps. Hammer canceled, with the 1870 example having an additional POC; Pennsylvania Mine, MI- Pennsylvania Mine $50; $100 Sight Drafts 1864-65 Fine; Very Fine The 1864 dated draft has a vignette of a miner and is printed in a darker shade of red than the 1865 dated draft which has a vignette of the state coat of arms of Pennsylvania; both drafts are hammer and/or cut canceled and have adhesive 5¢ revenue stamps (Inland Exchange and Agreement stamps).
