1720 Medal Louisbourg Fortified, Young Bust, Bronze, Betts-144, MS64 Brown NGC. 41 mm. Chocolate-brown surfaces contain hints of steel-brown. All design elements are well-defined. A common reverse design is used for Betts-142 through 147, and Betts originally dated all of them to 1720, although the different ages of the portraits of Louis XV indicate different manufacture times. The present example, showing a young head of Louis XV, could have been made in 1720, as Louis XV was 10 years old then. From The Costa Family Collection, Part III.
