1864 2C Small Motto, FS-401, MS65+ Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. The two cent denomination was short lived, lasting just eight years with 1864 serving as its inaugural year which had a sizeable near-20 million-coin mintage. Brilliant clay-brown luster shows over this phenomenally struck piece, only slightly perturbed by some minor marks that are minimal to the appeal. The Small Motto issue is scarce finer than MS65 in Red and Brown with just eight reported by PCGS, and only four have been stickered finer at CAC (7/26).
