1809 10C JR-1, High R.3, MS65 PCGS. The 1809 JR-1 is the sole dime die variety struck between 1808 and 1810. The mintage was a mere 51,065 pieces, and survivors are scarce in all grades. PCGS has certified just 19 examples in Mint State, and some of those could well be resubmissions over the past 40 years. The present Gem is housed in a Generation 1.2 "rattler" holder and exhibits brilliant semiprooflike surfaces. The left-side borders and select portions of the eagle's shield are incompletely brought up, but the portrait is sharply struck, and the eye appeal is undeniable.
