1794 50C O-101a, T-7, R.3, Fine 12 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 1/3. A middle die state, although later die stages include significantly more advanced die cracks and ultimately biplanar surfaces visible on the reverse. This well-preserved coin has a good strike with full dentilation, making it a great candidate for a first year United States Mint half dollar. The Fine 12 grade indicates this example saw extensive circulation in the earliest days of the new nation. Blue overtones enrich the silver-gray obverse, while the reverse offers a pleasing golden-gray patina. Full dentils surround both sides, weakening only at the lower obverse edge. The date and stars are bold for the assigned grade and there are no adjustment marks to distract the eye. HID06601242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
