1839 50C No Drapery, WB-101, Die Pair 4, R.4, XF45 PCGS. Gold CAC. The Philadelphia Mint's production of nearly 2 million Seated halves in 1839 includes a small number of No Drapery examples. These No Drapery examples command a significant premium as a single-year type coin. Four varieties exist of the true No Drapery half dollars, struck from dies closest to Christian Gobrecht's intended design. This Choice XF is a WB-4 (formerly WB-101) that has earned the important CAC gold seal of approval and exhibits natural blue, violet, and gold toning and well-struck design elements.
