1795 $1 Draped Bust, Centered, B-15, BB-52, R.2, XF40 PCGS. Bowers Die State V. The die state is attributable in part due to the knife-like die break along the hair as well as the die line which runs through the ICA of AMERICA. This attractive deep slate-gray color envelops this piece with subtle blue toning along the rims. Beyond a minor abrasion along Liberty's portrait there are no other notable features that would obfuscate the appeal. The strike is excellent and features only light circulation weakness for the grade, with alluring sharpness within the hair and almost entirely intact eagle feathering. While the present coin is not listed among the XF coins in the Herrman census, the piece is conditionally scarce and will be appreciable for variety collectors.
