1836 P$1 Name on Base, Judd-60 Original, Pollock-65, R.1 -- Obverse Repaired -- NGC Details. Proof. Silver. Plain Edge. No Stars Obverse, Stars Reverse. Die Alignment I (coin turn, center of Liberty's head opposite DO in DOLLAR). Die State E, or possibly later. The die lines at the O in ONE and D in DOLLAR are not visible, but these tend to fade on impaired coins; the portion of the rim below the R that would confirm or deny a later die state is obscured by the holder tab. All diagnostics for Die State E are discernible. NGC notes obverse repair work, which is embodied by tooling throughout the obverse fields. The reverse appears unaffected. Both sides are reflective and boldly struck, with deep blue, lavender, and various golden toning. Among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins (#65 in 6th edition). Ex: Houston Signature (Heritage, 12/2009), lot 908. HID06601242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
