1847 1C Hawaii Cent MS64 Red PCGS. M. 2CC-2. Crosslet 4, 15 berries. The 1847 Hawaiian cent is exceptionally rare in Red with just 27 examples observed at both NGC and PCGS, a scant survivorship given the 100,000-coin mintage. The Medcalf 2CC-2 is the most prominent of the six die marriages observed for the issue, identified by the crosslet 4 and the berry centered under the first A of HAWAII. The piece displays brilliant attractive cinnamon-red luster along with a cacophony of carbon spots. There is only a lone small mark present just right of the first H in KAMEHAMEHA, though otherwise is free from any marks. At PCGS the issue has not been observed any finer than MS64 in Red, the present piece offering an exceptional option for Registry collectors (7/26).
