1849 G$1 No L, D-1, MS65 PCGS. The No L gold dollar variety is scarce, with only 1,000 coins produced before the dies were modified to add the designer James B. Longacre's initial under the bust. The strike of this example is immensely appealing and some prominent die cracks are present along the top half of the reverse. No marks are present that would denigrate this piece, and at the Gem level the issue is rarely seen finer. PCGS Population: 42 in 65 (1 in 65+), 13 finer (7/26).
