1849 G$1 Open Wreath, D-4, Close Stars, MS64 PCGS. CAC. A boisterous 688,567 gold dollars were produced at Philadelphia in the denomination’s first year, with this piece displaying attractive vibrant butter-gold luster. The strike is exceptional with faultless details within the hair and appears to be in an earlier die state as the die crack through the ED of UNITED is light. The issue is conditionally scarce at MS64, and the present coin is enhanced by both CAC endorsement and by being housed in a Generation 1.2 "rattler" holder. CAC: 49 in 64, 11 finer (7/26).
