1854 $3 MS63 PCGS. CAC. The three dollar gold pieces were introduced in 1854 at Philadelphia, New Orleans, and Dahlonega. These coins are a one-year type with small letters on the reverse. Light reverse clash marks from Liberty's profile are evident on the reverse of this Select Mint State piece that exhibits brilliant and frosty yellow-gold luster. Trivial marks serve to prevent a higher grade, yet eye appeal is strong for the assigned grade. CAC: 17 in 63, 48 finer (6/26). From The Fairfax Type Set of U.S. Coins.
