1860 $20 Clark, Gruber $20 Copper Die Trial AU53 NGC. K-4a, R.5. The design of Pikes Peak on the obverse of this die trial was according to Don Kagin designed by someone who had never seen the mountain, and created a poor sharp triangle caricature of it. Light chocolate-brown luster adorns this piece with red patina and some small portions of grime. The strike is largely pleasing with some wear distinguishable along both the mountain and eagle.
