Continental Currency November 29, 1775 $4 PCGS Choice About New 55. The $4 features an emblem of a wild boar charging a spear with the motto AUT MORS AUT VITA DECORA (Either death or an honorable life). The signature of Samuel C. Morris on this example is surrounded by a halo of discoloration that also appears on the back of the note. Nonetheless, the note is well margined and sharply printed. Stephen Collins' signature in red is unblemished. No serial number is observed. A total of $3,000,000 payable in Spanish Milled Dollars was authorized on November 29, 1775, with an additional $10,000 subsequently authorized to replace worn bills in 1776 to be printed by Hall & Sellers in Philadelphia, PA.
