Massachusetts May 5, 1780 $5 PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ. Part of a $1,313,333 (£394,000) federally-guaranteed emission, this $5 mimics the $5 Continental Currency design with an emblem of a bleeding hand being withdrawn from a thorn bush with the motto SUSTINE VEL ABSTINE (Either survive or give up). This well printed example has bright paper, bold design elements, and decent margins. It is fully issued with signatures of Richard Cranch and Thomas Dawes as well as Peter Boyer who signed the federal guarantee on the back. The note also bears a red INTEREST PAID ONE YEAR stamp and a single POC, evidencing the note's redemption. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
