New Hampshire Contemporary Counterfeit November 3, 1775 40s PMG Very Fine 20 Net. Part of £20,000 in indented Treasury Notes authorized by the Resolve of November 1, 1775, this 40 Shillings note was the largest denomination issued. The design features and the signatures of Nicholas Gilman and Sam Hobart are clear. PMG mentions that the note has been severed and reattached and that there are three other edge repairs as well as some margin tattering. This note is currently regarded as a contemporary counterfeit with the key diagnostic being that the period after hereof is under the "e" of "payment" rather than the "n."
