New York March 25, 1755 £10 PMG Very Fine 20. This note was part of an emission of £45,000 intended to support a military expedition during the French and Indian War to capture Fort Saint-Frédéric on Lake Champlain. The British campaign was not successful. The note features a rendition of the New York City coat of arms surmounted by a Crown. This series uses the odd two-paper bonded "sandwich" found on New York water works notes, with dark coarse paper mounted with lighter banknote paper used for the face impression. PMG mentions splits, a stain, and that the note has been trimmed. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
