New York February 16, 1771 £10 PCGS Extremely Fine 40. After several attempts, legislation authorizing this issue was finally enacted on February 16, 1771. The £10 design features an allegorical vignette of Britannia seated between a Native American representing the colonies and a seated allegorical woman representing perhaps the Old World. This is joined by the New York City coat of arms. The note is signed by Theophylact Bache, Samuel Verplanck, and A. Lott. PCGS mentions some edge tears and repairs found primarily in the top margin.
