Pennsylvania March 20, 1771 20s PMG Choice Very Fine 35. The Act of March 9, 1771, authorized £15,000 in Bills to be used for the "defense of Philadelphia." The funds were however diverted to use for paving the city's streets. The Penn family coat of arms appears on the face with the back featuring the usual nature print. The note has clear design features and good margins printed on paper containing mica flakes and has dark signatures of Robert Strettell Jones, William Fisher, and most importantly Francis Hopkinson, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
