Pennsylvania March 25, 1775 14s PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. Part of a £6,000 emission of Bills, this 14 Shillings note was issued to provide funds for buoys and piers for the Cape Henlopen Lighthouse. The lighthouse was needed to guide ships safely into Delaware Bay, which it did until its eventual collapse on April 13, 1926. The note bears the Penn family coat of arms on the face and a lighthouse view on the back. Both 14s and 16s notes were printed with "inverted" back to face orientations. Although this is not the usual convention for paper money then or now, this is not considered an error.
