South Carolina December 23, 1776 $2 PMG Extremely Fine 40. Part of an issue of $308,000 authorized by the Act of December 23, 1776. This $2 note has four signatures indicating that it is in the much scarcer fully issued form rather than a partially signed remainder. The face has a small emblem of a rooster with the motto ET SOLI ET MARTI (For the Sun and for Mars). The note is well printed with clear signatures of John McCall, William Ancrum, William Price, and William Gibbs.
