South Carolina December 23, 1776 $8 Remainder PMG About Uncirculated 55. Part of an emission of $308,000 authorized by the Act of December 23, 1776, this $8 Bill of Credit features a small emblem depicting a sailing vessel with the motto MULTORUM SPES (The hope of many). Up to 10,000 $8s were allocated for issue, but remainders have survived, identified by fewer than four signatures. PMG mentions pinholes which are of little consequence.
