Virginia May 1, 1780 $2 PMG About Uncirculated 55 EPQ. Part of an emission of $1,666,666 in Treasury Bills authorized by the Act of May 1, 1780, 33,000 $2s were allocated for issue. The design's face has an interest table at lower left with the actual date of issue, September 9, 1781, written in above it. The back has an emblem borrowed from the $35 Continental note depicting a plow in a field with the motto HINC OPES (Hence wealth) printed in red and black. The note is well printed on bright paper with bold design details and sharp dark signatures of A. Craig and J.M. Simmons as well as of Forster Webb who signed the federal guaranty on the back. PMG mentions a miscut, referring to a section of the bottom margin below Simmons' signature. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
