Virginia October 16, 1780 $500 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30. Part of an emission of $18,000,000 authorized by two different Acts of October 16, 1780, this $500 note was redeemable in specie at the rate of 40 (paper): 1 (Specie). This example is printed on fragile paper that is almost tissue-like and has repaired ink erosion in the signatures. This note was signed by John Lyne, J. Hopkins, and J.M. Simmons.
