Virginia March 1, 1781 $150 printed on thin laid paper PMG Very Fine 25. A whopping $30,000,000 in legal tender Virginia Treasury Bills were authorized to be issued under the March 1, 1781, Act. At the November 1781 Session, however, legal tender status was terminated. Notes from this issuance were printed both on thick and thin laid paper. Thin laid paper representatives of the $150 denomination are far scarcer. This piece, signed by J.M. Simmons, J. Hopkins, and B. Webb, features the word "DOLLARS" deliberately misspelled as "DOLLARE" as a secret marking to fool counterfeiters. While many thin paper examples exist today with significant impairments, our current offering exhibits just a few small tears around its edges which affect little.
