Virginia May 7, 1781 $70 PMG Extremely Fine 40 EPQ. Printed by John Dunlap of Philadelphia, PA, this $70 was issued as part of a $60,000,000 emission of legal tender Treasury Bills redeemable by December 30, 1794. By an Act of the November 1781 Session, however, legal tender status ended, and the notes were to become worthless by October 1, 1782. Notes from this series are known for being well used and thus heavily impaired, but we find that the opposite is true of our current offering. In fact, due to bold signatures and bright, completely original paper surfaces, PMG has bestowed upon this rarity the coveted EPQ designation. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
